Formulation Of Technical Specifications, Quality Control Guidelines, & Standards for Nigeria’s RE Industry.

The Renewable Energy Association of Nigeria (REAN) is seeking to engage the services of an experienced Resource Person specializing in Standardization for Nigeria’s RE sector and REAN’s Standardization Working Group (SWG).
The Resource Person will be required to formulate technical specifications for RE equipment, systems, components, procurement, certification, quality control guidelines, and standards for Nigeria’s RE industry. The Expert will also identify, fill notable gaps, collate, and build a compendium of RE standards.
The standardization expert will be required to collaborate with relevant stakeholders such as the Standard Organization of Nigeria (SON), Rural Electrification Agency (REA), Nigerian Electricity Management Services Agency (NEMSA), Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), Federal Ministry of Power (MoP), Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Associations Alliance (REEEA-Alliance), and Nigerian Society for Engineers (NSE)
Key Deliverables:
The selected expert will undertake the following key activities:
- Obtain the SON’s RE standards document and other applicable documents.
- Must have proven linkage to RE industry product standards developments with the ability to act as a go-between for REAN.
- Extract RE applicable Standards and recommend them to the Working Group (WG) for review and adoption.
- Help develop Technical Advisories regarding RE products’ technical specifications for applicable RE standards.
- Train/educate the SWG members on RE standards, so they can become trainers and coaches of the larger REAN members (Train The Trainer Model), upon departure of the Resource Person.
- Compile a compendium of RE standards for implementation within and outside REAN
- Present findings and recommendations to REAN and stakeholders for feedback and validation.
Qualifications & Professional Requirements:
The expert should have a passion for quality, safety, interoperability, and efficiency in Nigeria’s RE industry, along with the following qualifications:
At least a BSc in Engineering with an electrical/Electronic bias is preferred. An MSc or PhD will be an added advantage.
- Direct work experience developing standards generally; direct RE standards development and quality assurance preferred.
- Electrical Laboratory testing experience.
- Affiliation with and previous experience working with International Standards organizations.
- Working knowledge and experience in the International Electro-technology Committee (IEC) codes.
Submission:
The Experts will be required to present their Expression of Interest (EOI) Proposals live at the REAN Annual General Meeting (AGM) at Four Points Sheraton Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos, on Tuesday, November 5th, 2024, from 2 to 5 p.m. The Experts will outline their plans, intentions, and solutions for implementing standardization measures in Nigeria’s RE industry.
