Article Writers on Naira-Based Concessionary Loans for Renewable Energy (RE) Projects & Low-Income Electricity End-Users.

The Renewable Energy Association of Nigeria (REAN) is calling on article writers to  unpack and discuss the challenges that inhibit the effective implementation of naira-based RE-Financing concessionary loans for renewable energy  projects, while also proposing pragmatic, forward-thinking recommendations.

What We’re Looking For:

  • 1: In-Depth Barrier Analysis: Articles should explore from a thought-provoking, high-level, or root-cause specific vantage point, the multifaceted obstacles—regulatory, economic,  commercial, technical, and legal —that may impede  the deployment of naira driven financing concessionary loans. We want a rigorous discussion on factors such as adequate capitalization of banking and other financial lending institutions in Nigeria; suitable interest and tenor rates; , risk perceptions and adjustments, and or policy inefficiencies that may hinder the uptake of these financial instruments.
  • 2: Actionable Solutions: Authors should go beyond diagnosis and propose clear, evidence-driven strategies to overcome these barriers. Whether it is structural policy reforms, market-disruptive innovative financing models practiced in other parts of the world or newly theorized,  your recommendations should provide a concrete road map for policymakers and industry stakeholders.
  • Data-Driven Insights: Leverage case studies, empirical data, and relevant international examples to highlight successful models of concessionary loans in regional or global markets similar to Nigeria. Your analysis should help illustrate how lessons learned from other regions can be adapted to Nigeria’s unique context.
  • Engaging Narrative: While depth and rigor are key, the article should also be engaging, accessible, and intelligible to the lay man, effectively bridging the gap between technical policy analysis and practical, real-world implications for the RE future.

Who Should Apply:

We welcome submissions from researchers, economists, financial / business / policy analysts, and  RE experts who:

  • Possess a deep understanding of financial mechanisms and  RE policy.
  • Are capable of presenting complex subject-matters and issues in a clear, digestible, and compelling manner.
  • Are eager to contribute to Nigeria’s sustainable development dialogue by crafting innovative and actionable recommendations.

Submission Guidelines:

  • Structure: A clear abstract summarizing your approach and key recommendations, followed by a well-organized, comprehensive analysis.
  • Supporting Evidence: Cite relevant data and case studies appropriately. Original insights grounded in both local and  global experience are highly encouraged.

Submission: Interested writers should send a pitch, writing sample, and a brief outline of their approach to jobs.hr@rean.org.ng
